Scholarship Options

Merit Scholarships

We believe that your exceptional talents and promise should be rewarded. So while we offer a wide range of need-based options for your financial aid, we also offer merit-based awards, which are determined without regard to your financial circumstances, range from $2,000 to full tuition, and are renewable for four years.

Simmons Scholarship Eligibility Awards
Dean's Scholarship Domestic and international first-year students who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to academic excellence. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA. $60,000 four-year scholarship ($15,000 per year). Renewable for four years.
Presidential Scholarship
Awards to domestic and international first-year students whose academic achievement and personal qualities indicate that they they will continue to perform as the highest level while enrolled at Simmons. Recipients must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Recipients receive a $40,000 four-year award ($10,000 per year)
Achievement Scholarship Merit based, as evidenced by secondary school performance and promise for achievement while enrolled at Simmons. Also awarded to domestic and international transfer students who have excelled at another university. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress. Recipients receive a $20,000 four year award ($5,000 per year)
Alumnae/i Scholarships
Renewable scholarships awarded to select daughters, sisters, and granddaughters of Simmons graduates. Renewable $2,000 scholarships.
Gilbert & Marcia Kotzen Scholarship Domestic and international first-year students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to academic excellence.  Considered the most prestigious award at Simmons.  Recipients must maintain a 3.2 cumulative GPA.  A separate application is required and can be found at Full tuition, mandatory fees, and room and board, and additional $3,000 for academic pursuits outside of the classroom.
Endowed Scholarships
Numerous endowed scholarships have been established through the generous contributions of friends, supporters, and alumnae/i of Simmons College.  Learn more at   Financial need and academic performance are the most common criteria in awarding these scholarships. Students must apply for financial aid each year in order to be considered for these awards.  These scholarships are awarded annually and are not automatically renewed for subsequent years.  Endowed scholarships are used to meet a student's financial need and traditionally replace institutional grant funding.  Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credits per semester). All eligible students who complete the FAFSA are automatically considered for these funds. Students can voluntarily offer additional information about themselves for consideration of these endowed scholarships by completing the Information Profile for Endowed Scholarships and submitting it to the Office of Student Financial Services. Simmons Boston Scholarship
Graduates of Boston public high schools are chosen annually as Boston Scholars and receive full tuition scholarships. Renewable as long as the student is enrolled full-time (12 credits per semester) and maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA.   You can find more information at Varies

Scholarship, Fellowship, and Grant Directories/Databases

You may also want to contact the following organizations to find out about scholarships for which you may be eligible to apply:
  • Your high school
  • Fraternal or social organizations in your home town
  • Your place of worship
  • Your hometown city hall
  • Your state board of higher education (see below)

About State Scholarships

Undergraduate students should contact their state's board of higher education regarding application and eligibility requirements for any available scholarships. Not all states allow their grant monies to be used out of state. Currently, students from Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maine, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont may use their state scholarship at Simmons College. State scholarships may be substituted for institutional grants.

We strongly advise you NOT to pay any scholarship search firm.  Most likely, if an organization is asking for a payment to help you search for scholarships, they are not providing a legitimate service.
