Work with a Librarian
Research & Resources
Work with a Librarian
Librarians are here to support your learning, teaching, research, and to make finding information a straightforward and friendly process for everyone.
Do you have an immediate question?
The Reference Desk is available through chat, text, email, phone, or in person to help answer your questions whenever and however it's most convenient for you.
We work with all students, both in-person or online as your program and schedule allows. We also work to best arrange research appointments to accomodate any disability needs of our students.
Research Appointments
Meet with a Librarian
In a Research Appointment work with a librarian to:
- discuss and narrow your topic
- refine your searching techniques, and
- choose the highest-quality information to use.
If a librarian came to your class and you would like a more personalized approach to your work, or if you're already familiar with searching but you haven't found enough sources on a specific topic, an individual appointment is a great way to get the help you need.
Displays & Tours
Contact a Librarian
Work with a librarian to develop Book Displays or Orientation Tours that support the efforts of student groups and campus-wide awareness days and movements.
Hosting Events

Instruction Sessions & Workshops
Schedule an instruction session or workshop
Work with a librarian to provide your students with information instruction sessions and workshops that:
- Introduce or remind your students of the academic, peer-reviewed resources available to them.
- Offer searching techniques including using keywords, truncation, limiters, and more.
- Highlight the Writing Center, RefWorks, and other academic support services.
- Train students to use specific resources, databases, or search techniques.
Personalized Consultations
Meet with a Librarian
Make an appointment for a personalized consultation with a librarian to discuss the resources available to support your research or projects. Resources and topics include RefWorks, finding and evaluating new resources, training on emerging technologies and assistance with searching specific topics.
Research Guides

Work with a subject-specialist librarian to develop a customized online guide to print and e-resources for your class. Using the library's LibGuides platform, these guides can also be embedded into a Moodle or eLearning course.
