Assessment

Career Education Center

Preparing our students to build successful careers and lead meaningful lives has been Simmons's mission for over 100 years.

The Career Education Center supports this mission by providing career education for lifelong career development. We help undergraduate students, graduate students and alumnae/i develop the skills and knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their careers in preparation for life's work.

Center for Excellence in Teaching

Simmons has launched the Center for Excellence in Teaching (CET), an important initiative of Strategy 2015, to nourish the College's long-standing strong culture of teaching excellence.

The CET helps faculty find resources for their teaching, exchange ideas with colleagues, and try new teaching ideas. The CET works with the college community to nourish teaching and student learning in every school and in every aspect of the College's life.

Institutional Research

The Office of Institutional Research is responsible for the collection, maintenance, analysis, and reporting of institutional data to be used internally to drive effective decision-making, assessment, and institutional improvement, as well as to report to external sources.  Please contact Lan Gao, Ph.D., the Director of Institutional Research, for more information.

Library

The Simmons College Library fully supports the educational needs of all members of the Simmons Community — students, faculty, staff, alumnae/i, and guests. Housed in Lefavour Hall on Simmons' main campus, the Library offers a comfortable and productive environment for learning, including an array of group study rooms, meeting rooms, event spaces, and quiet study areas.

Office of Academic Advising and Support

The Office of Academic Advising and Support is responsible for advising undergraduate  students with fewer than 48 credits and coordinating with faculty advisors in the majors.  The Office is housed within the Center for Academic Advising and also coordinates placement testing for undergraduates.

Provost's Office

The Provost, reporting to the President, is the Chief Academic Officer and the second-highest ranking officer at Simmons. The Provost supports the President in advancing the Simmons College mission and strategic vision. In the President's absence and at the request of the President or the Board of Trustees, the Provost would serve as the Chief Executive Officer for Simmons.

Scott/Ross Center

For more than 100 years, Simmons College has inspired its students to combine learning with action for a more just and equitable world. Today, the Scott/Ross Center (S/RC) for Community Service takes the lead in advancing this commitment to visionary education and civic engagement. Established in 2000 through the generosity of Emily Scott Pottruck '78, a trustee of the College, and her husband David Pottruck, the S/RC provides life-changing opportunities for our students through mutually enriching community partnerships. The Center is named in honor of Emily and her mother, Arlene Ross Gross '47.

The Office of Sponsored Programs is dedicated to serving the Simmons College faculty in the search for funds to support research and externally sponsored activities. From the inception of an idea to the submission of a proposal, the office is prepared to offer professional assistance in all phases of the process. Tutorial Center

The mission of Tutorial Services is to assist students in becoming independent and successful learners.

To accomplish this mission Simmons provides course content tutors in many disciplines (e.g., math, biology, chemistry, art history, modern languages) as well as specialists in study skills and time management.

Writing Center

The mission of the Writing Center at Simmons College is to foster academic excellence by providing resources and support that meet the needs of graduate and undergraduate students. The Writing Center offers one-on-one tutoring, workshops and presentations designed to strengthen students' academic reading, writing, critical thinking, and research skills. The Center works with faculty across schools and programs to address students' academic and discipline-specific writing needs.
