Simmons Institute Recognized as Important Community Partner

January 29, 2013

Longtime director of the Simmons Institute for Leadership and Change (SILC), Diane Hammer was honored Jan. 22 by the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston as their 2013 Community Partner of the Year.

Hammer was honored at the TD Garden Legends Club along with five other women recognized as Big Sisters of the Year, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, which was recognized as the 2013 Corporate Partner of the Year.

During her acceptance speech, Hammer noted the importance of women and girl serving organizations working together in Boston. “We know that these organizations are making a difference in the lives of girls and women in our communities. When we invest in girls, the benefits are exponential.”

Simmons College is known for its commitment to women and girl serving organizations in the community. The Big Sister Association is an important partner for Simmons, working primarily with SILC and the Scott/Ross Center for Community Service.
