Simmons Also Ranked #5 Among "Best Green MBA" Programs
BOSTON (October 11, 2012) — The Simmons School of Management has once again been ranked #1 in the category of "Greatest Opportunity for Women" by The Princeton Review, in its 2013 guidebook of "The Best 296 Business Schools."
This is the 4th consecutive year that the Simmons School of Management has earned this distinction. Simmons was also ranked #5 in the newly created category of "Best Green MBA." To read the full list of rankings, visit http://www.princetonreview.com/business-school-rankings.
As the only business school in the world designed specifically to advance women in their careers, the Simmons College School of Management offers all the components of a rigorous MBA, but with an added dimension focused on educating women for power and principled leadership.
"In today's business world, it is critical for women to have both cutting edge business skills and the ability to successfully navigate the gender dynamics that exist in many organizations. The Simmons MBA program addresses both needs," said Cathy Minehan, Dean of the Simmons School of Management. "We are proud to be recognized by The Princeton Review as a top business program and as #1 in offering the greatest opportunity for women.
"We are also proud to be recognized for our focus on sustainability, a growing area of corporate interest and concern. Not only are we educating our MBA's to be powerful women leaders, we are preparing them to take on the newest corporate responsibilities."
The Princeton Review survey asked 19,000 students at 296 business schools their opinions of their school's academics, student body, and campus life. It also queried the students about themselves and their career plans. All the student surveys analyzed for this edition were completed online and conducted during the 2011-12, 2010-11, and 2009-10 academic years.
A School of Management student surveyed by The Princeton Review said this about the program: "Women seek a business education at Simmons because the network is incredibly strong and wide, and every alum I talked to said the network has been integral to her success." Additionally, Simmons students said they believe that the "opportunities being offered [at Simmons] couldn't even be approached by other [co-ed] business schools."
The Simmons College School of Management is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a distinction earned by fewer than 30% of business schools in the United States and fewer than 5% worldwide. Reflecting its commitment to corporate social responsibility, the Simmons School of Management is housed in a building that received Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system.
