Kate Leonard enters her second year as Head Field Hockey and Lacrosse coach at Simmons College. Before arriving at Simmons, Leonard worked at Concord Academy for two years, where she was a house parent, tutor, and organizer of the school’s AP Program in addition to her coaching duties. While at Concord, Leonard earned her Master’s degree in Educational Studies from Tufts University.

Leonard began coaching when she was in high school, where she worked at local clinics. Since then, she has coached with MetroLacrosse, Downeast Lacrosse, Nike Sports Camps, Purple Valley Sports Camps, New Canaan Country School, Stratton Mountain School, and Concord Academy. In 2006, Leonard accompanied the Williams College field hockey team to South Africa, where they competed against club teams and worked with youth clinics in the area. In 2007 and 2008, Leonard was a New England Prep School Women’s Lacrosse Association (NEPSWLA) All-Star Coach and a high school lacrosse All-American Selector. In the summer of 2009, Leonard will coach a collegiate lacrosse team at the Prague Cup in the Czech Republic, as well as work with Black Diamond Camps.

As a collegiate athlete, Leonard had an exceptional career as a three-sport athlete for the Williams College Ephs. She was a member of the lacrosse teams that reached the NCAA Division III Tournament Finals (2000) and Elite Eight (2003) and won the ECAC crown (2001). She played on field hockey teams that earned NESCAC Championships (2001, 2002) and reached the Elite Eight (2001, 2002) in NCAA Division III Tournament play.

As a senior, Leonard was awarded the Kate Hogan/25th Anniversary of Women in Athletics Award. Leonard was also the recipient of the Chris Larson Mason Award, presented to the Williams field hockey player who best exemplified teamwork, dedication, sportsmanship, and skill.  In 2003, Leonard was an All-NESCAC Team selection in lacrosse and received Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region honors.

In addition to field hockey and lacrosse, Leonard was a four-year letter winner and two-time Captain for the Williams Division I Alpine Ski team.  She was named to the NCAA Division I Skiing Academic All-American Team in 2003.  Leonard competed in the 2001 NCAA Division I Alpine Skiing Championships and earned the Williams Alumnae Skiing Award in her senior season.

A 2003 graduate of Williams College, Leonard earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She is USLacrosse CEP Level 1 Certified.

Jess Graham

Assistant Lacrosse Coach, Athletics

Jess Graham enters her first year as Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Simmons College. A 2006 Williams College graduate, Graham was a psychology and American studies double-major and played field hockey and lacrosse for the Ephs. She played midfield and defense in both sports.

Graham has coached lacrosse summer camps and clinics for several years and is excited to work with the Sharks this season. She is currently pursuing a PhD in clinical psychology at UMass-Boston.
