Q: How do I request a peer education program to be taught in my Hall/for my class/for my organization?
A: Contact healtheducation@simmons.edu or call 617-521-2118. The director of Health education, Priyanka Jain will receive this request and the coordinating student health educator will be in touch via e-mail to review details of the program and to arrange a program date with you.
Q: After I request a peer health education program, how do I advertise the event?
A: The student health educator will forward you a customized flyer via e-mail for you to make copies, post, and distribute or you could create you own advertising material for the event.
Q: Is it possible to have an individual and confidential appointment with the director of health education?
A: Absolutely; The Director of Health Education, priyanka.jain@simmons.edu is available to meet with any interested student free of charge to offer information and assistance for a variety of health-related concerns. These might include issues concerning relationships, difficulty with sleep or diet, managing stress and time, concern about drug and alcohol use, smoking cessation, sexual assault education and risk management. Priyanka may direct you to additional resources or referrals depending on the nature of your concern.
Q: Is there a nutritionist at the health center who I can meet with to talk about an eating concern? If so how much does the visit cost?
A: Yes, we have a nutritionist, who is available to meet with students individually or in small groups to discuss a range of issues, from healthy eating and body image to weight managemant and disordered eating.
