For over 100 years Simmons College has been preparing young women for independent livelihoods and meaningful lives. Founder John Simmons' mission is very much alive and well today as evidenced by the degree to which our students are engaged in the professional life of the Greater Boston community — and beyond — both during and after their time at Simmons.

Recent Graduating Classes

Each year the CEC surveys recent undergraduates one year out to determine their employment and/or further education status. Despite the challenges of the recent and prolonged economic downturn, on the whole new Simmons graduates have fared well in the employment marketplace.

The full-time rate for those employed and/or in graduate school one year out has improved from the previous year. For the most recent class surveyed, the Class of 2012, 86% were employed or in graduate school full-time one year after graduation, with another 7% employed part-time or in temporary situations, for an overall rate (after rounding) of 94%.

For more detailed outcome information for recent undergraduate classes, see the following summary reports from the employment surveys:

Selected Recent Internship Sites

A hallmark of a Simmons education is the integration of experiential education into the student's overall program. In fulfillment of the credit-bearing Independent Learning Requirement, more than 80% of Simmons students participate in one or more internships during their time as an undergraduate (the term internship is used here broadly to encompass any type of workplace-based experiential education, such as clinical placements in nursing, practicums in education, field placements, etc.). Internships can be undertaken either in-semester or during the summer.

Simmons students can - and do! - intern almost anywhere. Many choose to take advantage of the college's ideal location in Boston to leverage the rich wealth of opportunities and the college's established relationships with a broad range of organizations in the area, while others choose to pursue opportunities outside the region or even the country.
