Simmons College is pleased to announce a new partnership with our colleagues at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts. Beginning Fall 2008, Simmons will offer two graduate degree programs on the Stonehill College campus - the Master's of Science in Communications Management and the Master's of Science in Behavioral Education. Both programs meet the growing professional needs of adults in the South Shore/Cape Cod/Rhode Island area and will allow participants the opportunity to pursue high quality, graduate level work with the Simmons brand name closer to home.
The Behavioral Education program emphasizes the application of behavioral principles to solve problems faced by educators at all levels. Students are prepared to assume leadership roles in the implementation, evaluation, and administration of behaviorally-based methods of teaching learners with special needs. Graduates are prepared to sit for the national BCBA exam to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts and go on to work in public and private school settings, residential treatment facilities, and private consulting practices. The master's program is one of only 14 in the country to receive approval by the Association of Behavior Analysis International.

The M.S.Ed. program in Behavioral Education in the Department of Special Education has recently been accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis (ABA). Simmons becomes one of only 13 schools in the country with this extremely prestigious accreditation, and the only school in New England. The mission of the ABA, an international organization based out of Kalamazoo, Michigan, is to develop, enhance, and support the growth and vitality of behavior analysis through research, education and practice. Congratulations to program director Dr. Michael Cameron and the Special Education department for this significant honor.
