QUAL: Minimum Qualifications:
- A master's degree in library science from an accredited library school.
- Five years of pertinent professional library experience and/or any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience sufficient to indicate ability to do the work.
- Must be a resident of the City of Boston upon first day of hire.
- Must successfully clear a Criminal Offenders Record Information (CORI) check with the City of Boston.
DUTIES: The Boston Public Library is accepting applications for a Children's Librarian II position in the BPL's Grove Hall neighborhood branch. The successful candidate will participate in services to a diverse population characteristic of an urban setting with emphasis on service to children and to perform professional work requiring application of professional knowledge of literature, bibliographic sources and services with a concentration on children and will assist in the development, planning and implementation of the Library's program of service to children through personal consultations, reference and readers' advisory services, outreach and programs. DUTIES: The Nevins Memorial Library in Methuen is seeking a 24-hour per week Readers Services | Young Adult Librarian for its busy Circulation Department. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, experience working with and a desire to work with teens.
This is a 24-hour per week position that includes nights and every third Saturday. Hours are from 5-9 pm on Mondays and Thursdays, 1-9 pm on Tuesdays, and 9-5 on Fridays. Benefits include vacation, sick and personal time. Readers & Teen Services are under the auspices of our Circulation Department. Duties will include working on the Circulation Desk, Young Adult collection development and programming, displays, and community outreach, as well as other duties as determined by the Head of Readers Services.
