Student Assistant, Property Information Resource Center, Harvard Planning & Project Management, Cambridge MA

The Property Information Resource Center (PIRC) is a small archives & library located on the 5th floor of Holyoke Center and is the University's principal repository for records of the institution's buildings and land. The PIRC fulfills this mission by collecting, organizing, cataloging, preserving, and providing efficient access to records and published information that documents Harvard University's built environment.

 

Student assistants play a vital role in the PIRC and are given meaningful tasks and responsibilities, including these listed below:

 

Primary responsibilities:

  •          Pull and re-file architectural drawings, maps and related records
  •          Assist with special projects as needed

 

Preferred skills/experience:

  •          Attention to detail; ability and willingness to multi-task
  •          Ability to work a consistent schedule
  •          Sensitivity to working with restricted materials
  •          Accurate typing skills (prefer 40 wpm) and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  •          Previous experience working with archival materials preferred, but not required
  •          Previous experience working with architectural materials preferred, but not required
  •          Experience working with Excel
  •          Position requires the ability to lift boxes up to 20 pounds

 

Salary:  $13/hr

 

Hours per week:   12

 

The PIRC is open Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, and student assistant may establish their own work schedule within those hours. This position is available during the Fall 2013 semester.
