Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences (GSLIS) aims to make its students marketable from the start. Created for new and seasoned job seekers, the pathfinder is arranged to include career searching resources, such as career planning guides, resumes, cover letters, curriculum vitae, interviewing, email etiquette, networking, salary negotiation, and job banks.
Current information is essential for effective and efficient job searching as resume formats, keywords, interview modes, and networking tactics are constantly changing. With the exception of established networking services, human resource experts advise using print and electronic information resources that have been published within the last five years. Most of the pathfinder resources have been published within this time frame to maintain currency.
As a caveat, the Simmons College's Beatley Library's call numbers of several works' older editions are also listed for those seeking immediate, free access to resources. Newer editions often include updated information about social networking, resume writing, and interviewing.
