Cindy Chadwick is the Organizational Development Coordinator for the Arapahoe Library District (ALD) in south suburban metro Denver. She began her library career at ALD in 1998, where she's also served as Sheridan City Librarian and Manager of Outreach Services, overseeing bookmobile and jail library services for Arapahoe County, CO. A 2004 Library Journal Mover & Shaker, Cindy is interested in libraries because of their transformational power, particularly in the lives of low income children and families. As a fellow in the Urban Libraries Council's Executive Leadership Institute, Cindy helped ALD prepare for its successful 2003 tax increase vote, sparking a continuing interest in why and how libraries receive funding, alternative revenue streams, and the role of public trust and political savvy in shaping the future of libraries. Prior to entering this strange, wonderful profession, Cindy received an A. M. in Divinity from the University of Chicago, studying feminist theology, and worked as a job counselor at St. Martin de Porres House of Hope in Chicago.
