On-campus housing for undergraduate and graduate commuter students is available for students who wish to stay overnight for academic, social, or emergency purposes. The designated commuter room is located in Mesick Hall. The room has four beds, desks and chairs, and dressers. The room is designated for sleeping purposes only. Commuter students may use the hall lounge or other study space available on the residence campus to study. In the event the commuter student is male, he will be placed in a room with males only. Students may take advantage of this space for no more than two consecutive nights and for no more than three nights per week. Exceptions may be made during exam periods or during special weekends. Room reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis and can be made through the Office of Residence Life via their website: www.simmons.edu/reslife. Advanced reservations are recommended, but not mandatory. Arrivals to the commuter room should happen between 8:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Office of Residence Life.
Linen, blankets, pillows, or a sleeping bag must be provided by the student. If students need a place to store items between stays we recommend checking out a locker at the MCB or Holmes sports center. Students staying in commuter rooms are obligated to read and follow College and residence hall policies and procedures.
The cost for the commuter room is $25 per night. Payment should be made prior to check-in at the Office of Residence Life or the student should indicate on their application that they wish to be billed.
