About the Conference

For more than 100 years, a Simmons education has integrated professional preparation, intellectual exploration, and community orientation.  We value the many dimensions of identity — including race, class, ethnicity, and sexual identity — and reflect that in our curriculum, affiliated organizations, and community partnerships.

For the past 35 years, Simmons has sponsored the Simmons Leadership Conference.  Considered to be the premier women's leadership conference in the world, the Simmons Leadership Conference attracts over 3000 middle and senior level women from companies and organizations across the country and around the globe.

Each year, our speakers are prominent women who are role models and thought leaders on issues relevant to experiences and concerns of women in the workplace and in the world.  We ask our speakers to tell their stories so others are inspired to reach higher to achieve their personal and professional goals.

The Simmons Leadership Conference furthers the mission of our founder, John Simmons — to enable women to acquire independent livelihoods.  The Conference is a non-profit fundraiser for graduate scholarships at Simmons College and as such, helps ensure the viability of women's education for generations to come.

Past speakers include: Madeline Albright, Maya Angelou, Christiane Amanpour, Charlene Barshefsky, Benazir Bhutto, Cherie Booth Blair, Maxine Clark, Viola Davis, Geraldine Ferraro, Carly Fiorina, Marta Fox, Whoopie Goldberg, Donna Karan, Billie Jean King, Sherry Lansing, Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, Pat Mitchell, Anne Mulcahy, Josie Natorie, Queen Noor, Michele Norris, Mary Robinson, Janet Reno, Jehan Sadat, Anna Deavere Smith, Meg Whitman, Oprah Winfrey, Sheryl WuDunn and many more.

Many corporations sponsor the Leadership Conference to demonstrate their commitment to women's development and advancement.  Attendees, in turn, value the high quality of experience, insight, and knowledge they receive to help them further their career development and success.

Past and current sponsors include, EMC, HP, Cisco, Merck, Philips, Putnam Investments, The Hartford, Staples, Fidelity Investments, PwC, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Technologies, and many more.
