LD and ADD/ADHD Testing Resources

Students whose documentation is out of date (see documentation guidelines) or who have never been officially diagnosed must seek testing from an outside professional. Simmons College does not provide testing or diagnostic services to students. It is the responsibility of the student to provide appropriate documentation to the college in order to be eligible for accommodations. Any testing needed is at the student's own expense.

Simmons College is able to provide contact and referral information for some professionals in the area who provide psycho-educational testing. These referrals are not meant as the only approved professionals, rather, they are simply a listing of professionals that have worked with Simmons students in the past and have provided accurate testing. There are many qualified professionals in the area. Students may work with any appropriate professional that they choose.

Psycho-educational testing can be expensive and may not be covered by insurance. It is important to consult with your insurance provider to review your benefits. Simmons can make no guarantee of financial assistance to cover the costs of testing.

It is important to remember that testing does not guarantee that the student will be eligible for accommodations. Testing results must indicate a significant need for accommodation and provide justification for any specific accommodation request. Determination of accommodations is ultimately up to the discretion of the Director of Disability Services.
