The Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Faculty Career Flexibility

Simmons College Accelerator Plan
October 1, 2007

Evidence of Commitment to Faculty Career Flexibility
Simmons College has a longstanding commitment to employee health and welfare, and an appreciation for the challenges of work/life balance. Support for work/life balance can be seen in our policies and programs, and we have held fast to our tradition that faculty and staff should be treated similarly with regard to leave policies and benefits. Policies and programs which benefit our faculty also apply to our staff, and those which benefit our staff, also apply to our faculty. In fact, Simmons was recognized in 2003 and 2005 by the Boston Business Journal as one of the "Best Places to Work" in Massachusetts. The award recognizes an organization's achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees through a combination of employee satisfaction, working conditions, and culture.
