Summer Preview Days

Summer Preview Day Registration

Please note the following important information:

  • The Thursday Summer Preview Day is at capacity. Please register for the Monday, June 29 Preview Day.
  • If you previously registered for the Thursday Summer Preview Day, but still need to pay, please register for the Monday Preview Day and indicate that you are paying for the Thursday Preview Day in the box for "any comments or special requests."
  • You must register for the Preview Day Overnight by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2009.

The Simmons Summer Preview Day offers you the opportunity to STEP UP TO YOUR FUTURE and make the most of your Simmons experience. Throughout the day, you will meet other new students, create an academic schedule, and learn about opportunities and resources that you can utilize during your time at Simmons.

Summer Preview Days will be held on Thursday, June 25 and Monday, June 29. The fee for the Summer Preview day is $25, which includes your lunch, registration materials, and also a copy of the First-Year Reading Book, Better. On Sunday, June 28, we are also offering an overnight experience for an additional fee of $55, which will include lodging, meals, and an evening trip into Boston.

We are delighted that you will be joining the Simmons community and look forward to seeing you at one of the Simmons Summer Preview Days.

9:15 - 9:30 a.m.: Welcome Day Check-In
9:30 - 10:00 a.m.: Official College Welcome
10:00 - 10:45 a.m. Student to Student: Group Meetings
10:45 - 11:45 a.m.: Math Competency Testing
10:45 - 11:45 a.m.: Language Placement Testing
10:45 - 11:45 a.m.: What's it REALLY Like? - Student Panel
12:00 - 1:00 p.m.: Summer Preview Luncheon
1:00 - 3:00 p.m.: Orientation Leader Outing
3:15 - 5:30 p.m.: Academic Advising Appointments
3:15 - 5:30 p.m.: College Resource Fair

Overnight Option

The Overnight option offers the opportunity to complete your Summer Preview Experience. You will stay in the residence halls, eat at Bartol Dining Hall, and explore Boston with your fellow students and Orientation Leaders.

9:30 a.m.: Summer Preview Day begins

Overnight Activity Options

When you register for the overnight, you will be asked to choose among the following evening activities:

  • Skywalk Observatory: The Boston skyline is a beautiful sight in the evening. The Skywalk Observatory offers you a fascinating glimpse of the Boston skyline. Following your visit to the skywalk observatory, explore the Prudential Center, Newbury St, and Copley Square.
  • Improv Asylum and the North End Improv Asylum is a comedy theater that features improvisation and sketch comedy. Described as Whose Line is it Anyway? meets Saturday Night Live!, it will be a fun experience for all! Afterwards, enjoy delicious Pastries in Boston's North End.
  • Movie at Boston Common: Explore Boston Common, and then enjoy a movie with your new friends at the Boston Common AMC/Loews!
  • VanGoh: Brush with Genius and Faneuil Hall: Van Gogh: Brush with Genius leads viewers on a journey through the surprisingly short 9-year period of the artist's career during which he painted more than 900 paintings. This IMAX movie is being shown at the New England Aquarium. Following the IMAX movie, explore the Boston Waterfront and walk to Faneuil Hall.

Family Preview

The morning of the Summer Preview days offer parents and other family members an opportunity to learn more about what it means to be part of the Simmons Family. Following the morning sessions , we encourage families to take the opportunity to explore the Boston area. Suggestions of locations to visit will be provided to you in your registration materials. Families may also want to use this time to visit campus offices during their "drop-in hours" between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m
