Our curriculum emphasizes performance-based accountability through a rigorous, applied management approach. Led by faculty who are accomplished experts in the business and health care worlds, coursework focuses on evidence-based strategies for decision-making, communication across health care sectors, and the acquisition of technical skills through practical application.
We designed our course sequence strategically to support and develop:
- Fundamental business and leadership skills;
- The mastery of health-specific applications based on those key skills; and
- The ability to apply learning to real-world health care situations
You'll start by taking most courses in the MBA required core and end the program with health-care-specific courses. This approach is different from many MBA programs with a "health care track" in that it provides a comparatively heavy emphasis on health-specific-courses — 20 percent for our competitors vs. 67 percent at Simmons.
Students in the HCMBA take 6 core courses from the general MBA program, 10 health-care-specific courses, and 2 electives, for 54-credits. The sequence of courses allows you to start the program either in the fall or spring.
