On March 5th, thirty-two employers attended the School of Social Work Career Fair to recruit students and recent alumni for social work positions. Safety for Social Workers Signed into Law

On February 15, 2013, Governor Deval Patrick signed legislation to promote safety for social workers and other human service workers in the workplace. The legislation was in response to a four-year advocacy campaign of the National Association of Social Workers Safety Task Force. Read More »

Invisible No More on Veterans' Day

In honor of Veterans' Day, M.S.W. student Rachel Beddick and Associate Professor Linda T. Sanford M.S.W. hosted two screenings of the award-winning documentary The Invisible War, which examines sexual assault within the U.S. Armed Forces through the stories of victims, both men and women. Simmons School of Social Work Launches First Academic Journal in the Nation Focused on Field Education

Addressing a growing interest in scholarly research on field education, the Simmons School of Social Work recently announced the launch of a new online journal, the Field Educator. The Field Educator is the first academic social work journal in the nation focused entirely on field education, which has been identified by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) as the signature pedagogy of the social work field. Thom Harrigan: It Gets Better

The Simmons College community has joined together to send messages of hope, encouragement, and perseverance for LBGTQ youth through the It Gets Better Project™. Started in 2010 by author Dan Savage, the It Gets Better Project™ seeks to inspire hope for youth facing harassment by sending positive messages.
