Simmons School Social Work 2009 Graduates — Where are they now?
Cecily Donegan, a 2009 Simmons School of Social Work graduate, just got her dream job. Cecily is now a clinical social worker at Boston's Children's Hospital emergency department. Two years ago, Cecily relocated from the West Coast to attend graduate school; she left a job as a residential counselor at a therapeutic boarding school in Oregon to study clinical social work at Simmons College School of Social Work.
Describing her experience at Simmons, Cecily states "I had an incredible experience at Simmons... the education and mentoring I received helped me to develop my social work identity". Along with rigorous course work, Cecily had two field placements. In her first year, she interned at the Institute for Health and Recovery in Cambridge and in her second year, she was an intern at Tufts Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Both prepared her to enter the competitive Boston job market with solid clinical skills and knowledge. Overall how does Cecily describe her experience at Simmons? "It was an amazing experience...I move forward in the social work profession with pride and a commitment to social justice, political advocacy and working with underserved populations."
