Second Language Acquisition
4 sem. hrs. Presents research underlying major theories of second language acquisition, considering such factors as age, role of first language, language environment, learning style, and motivation. Also includes acquisition order, error analysis, interlanguage, and discourse analysis, as well as implications for classroom practice. Involves tutoring a non-native English speaker to reflect on the process of language acquisition. Requires fieldwork.
