Mixed Media Portraits

Pre-requisite: Any ONE of the following courses OR consent of the instructor - ART 111, ART 112, ART 183, ART 211, ART 213 or ART 331. What is a portrait? Moving beyond the traditional depiction of an individual, students will work with drawing, painting, collage and mixed media to explore expressive and conceptual approaches to creating portraits of our lives, cultures and times. Themes include avatars, daily rituals, cultural identities, gender and the media. The course culminates in an independent project of your choice.
