Prereq.: ONE of the following courses: Art 111; Art 112; Art 183; Art 211; Art 213; Art 331 OR consent of the instructor. Explores a variety of forms of representation that have had currency from the 1950s to the present with an emphasis on collage and mixed media. Students work with both traditional (ex: paint, drawing media) and non-traditional materials (ex: recycled and found materials), emphasizing experimentation. Processes may include photomontage, collage, assemblage, transfer techniques and appropriation. Color, composition and other formal issues are related to individual concerns and pictorial structure.
