Newspaper Kanji and Trans.

4 sem. hrs. Prereq.: JAPN 245 or consent of the instructor. Not offered in 2012-2014.] Aims to increase proficiency and literacy in reading and writing kanji. Emphasizes newspaper vocabulary and kanji in political and socioeconomic settings. Focuses on reading comprehension and written expressions. Students are required to read and translate articles in major Japanese newspapers, such as Asahi Shimbun, Yomiuri Shimbun, and Nikkei Shimbum.
