Gov't Regulation of Industry

4 sem. hrs. Prereq.: ECON 100 and 101 or consent of the instructor. Examines the government regulation that directly guides, restricts, and overrules private decision-making in the U.S. economy. Overview of such regulation along with in-depth analysis of such cases as pharmaceutical drug regulation, environmental protection, and electric utility regulation. Emphasizes recent trends and ongoing debates about appropriate regulation.
