Barbara Sawtelle specializes in teaching managerial economics, environmental economics, and macroeconomics. She also teaches each fall in the Simmons Graduate School of Management. She has been a research associate and consultant with Cahners Publishing Company, and served as a reviewer for the Journal of Economic Education. Professor Sawtelle's research focuses on consumer expenditure patterns and on women's industry-specific employment fluctuations. She is the founder and coordinator of the New England Women Economists Association, a network exchanging public policy research and professional development ideas among women economists in government, academic, consulting, industry, banking, and nonprofit organizations.
