Feminist Media Studies

4 sem. hrs. Prereq.: ENGL 195 and junior standing. ENGL 200, 210, or 221 recommended. Analyzes how film form positions women and investigates how female audiences consume the medium. Topics include female directors and stars, gaze theory and psychoanalysis, melodrama and the 'woman's film,' feminist documentary, racialized bodies, lesbian cinema, feminist television criticism, chick flicks, and postfeminism.
