4 sem. hrs. Prereq.: SPAN 245 or consent of the instructor. Analyzes the changes and evolution of the religious, social, political, and cultural values of the Spanish bourgeoisie. Studies 19th-century realist writers such as Pérez Galdós, Clarín, and Pardo Bazán, as well as 20th-century neorealists like Martín Gaite and Delibes.
