About

La Donna Christian joined the faculty full-time in 2009 in the Dotson Bridge and Mentoring Program. In 2010 Ms. Christian was appointed the director of the Dotson program, which serves ALANA students in the School of Nursing. Ms. Christian is a board certified advance practice nurse in community health with over 16 years experience working in public health. Her main interest is in improving the health of the minority and underserved populations. Her international work includes a medical mission with the Honduran Missions Fall River Diocese in Giamaca Honduras, where she served as a clinician in several clinical settings. She has 18 years of teaching experience and has taught several nursing courses at Simmons.

Ms. Christian recently received the New England Regional Black Nurses Association Excellence in Nursing Award for Teaching and Academics and is an advisory board member at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth College of Nursing. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nurses Honors Society, New England Regional Black Nurses Association, National Black Nurses Association, Mary Mahoney Honor Society, and Chi Eta Phi Black Nurses Association.
