General, Org. & Biochemistry

4 sem. hrs. Prereq.: Completion of the competency in basic mathematics requirement or MATH 101.Survey of chemistry. Atomic and molecular structure, solutions, states of matter. Naming of inorganic and organic compounds. Chemical reactions. Structure and function of the biological molecules of life. Nutrition and metabolism. Emphasis on chemistry in a clinical context. Laboratory includes experience with materials and techniques of clinical relevance. Four hours lecture, four hours laboratory per week. This course can not be used as a substitute for CHEM 111 or CHEM 113.
