Family and Society
4 sem. hrs. Prereq.: SOCI 101 or consent of the instructor. Not offered in 2012-2014.] Critically analyzes assumptions about a unitary, normative family. Examines gendered family roles, social policies, and legal practices that derive from these assumptions. Topics include pairing, parenting, and separating; division of labor; and pressures encountered within this important social form.
