Professor Shelley White researches and writes about the intersections of political economy and health, HIV/AIDS, human rights, and social change. She has a background in international public health with expertise in HIV/AIDS policy and international development, and has recently worked in Lesotho and Kenya. She teaches courses on public health and the Sociology of Health and Illness, as well as the Sociology Internship course.
Professor White is deeply committed to connecting the classroom to the community, and recently co-edited the book Sociologists in Action: Sociology, Social Justice and Social Change.
