Campus Safety

The Public Safety Department is made up of trained law enforcement officers and staff who provide a safe and secure environment for the students, faculty and staff of Simmons College to learn, work, and live. The Residence Campus houses the Campus Dispatch center with 24-hour coverage, year-round, and the main public safety office is located in the Main Campus Building on the Academic campus.

The Public Safety office also coordinates with other offices to offer safety awareness, training, and defense programs to the Simmons community:

Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)

The College has established a multidisciplinary Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), with representatives from Student Life, Residence Life, the College Health and Counseling Centers, Health Education, and Public Safety, as a community resource for students and other community members to offer confidential consultation and to answer questions about sexual assault reporting options and available services and resources at the college and in the greater community.

Rape Aggression Defense System (RAD)

The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.

Campus Card Office

The Campus Card Office issues ID cards, known as Fenway Cards, which are used for identification, dining, library privileges, use of the Sports Center, door access, and pre-paid services. The office also administrates the campus card program.

All Simmons College students are required to have an official Simmons photo identification card. You will need this card to gain access to college buildings, dormitories, dining halls, use Fenway Cash and for other services.

There are two ways for students to obtain a Simmons ID:

  1. Visit the Campus Card Office (first floor of the Palace Road Building, Suite P107) during our business hours and have your picture taken and ID printed; or
  2. Submit a photo online and have your ID ready for pick up when you arrive on campus.

Please make sure to pay attention to all of the requirements for submitting a photo online. Photo submissions are manually reviewed before any IDs are printed. If your photo cannot be used we will ask you to resubmit your photo or we will take your photo at the Campus Card office. Once your Simmons ID is printed you must come in person to the Campus Card Office to pick it up. You must present a government issued photo ID in order for the Campus Card Office to provide you with your Simmons ID.

If you have any questions, please contact the Campus Card Office at 617-521-2273 or fenwaycard@simmons.edu. For more information please go to our on-line ID photo submission website.
