Meet the Dean of the Simmons School of Management

Hello and Welcome to the School of Management!

Chances are, if you are reading this page, you are looking for a school and a program that interests you. In the city of Boston, there is no lack of great schools and programs, so why might you consider Simmons School of Management?

One reason is because Simmons was founded with you in mind. Yes, you!

John Simmons, a Bostonian business magnate who died in 1870, left money in his will to create a college for women that would enable graduates to acquire independent livelihoods. He believed it was important for women to have the kind of skills that would allow them to live a financially stable life on their own. This was 50 years before Congress ratified the 19th Amendment in 1920, giving women the right to vote. The guy was prescient!

Thus, from the get-go, Simmons has always been about empowering women’s independence and freedom, supporting women’s rights, and breaking down educational barriers.

Today, as a women-centric university, Simmons continues to fight for and promote equality, racial justice and gender-equity. Simmons has also become the renowned leader for Inclusive Leadership and hosts an annual conference that draws business women, entrepreneurs, and government leaders from around the country and the world. It’s a pretty spectacular event and you can get involved when you are here.

So, if you are looking for a place where you can safely and authentically discover your passions and talents, build community, and establish a firm footing for the future, Simmons School of Management might just be the right fit for you.
