Doctoral Hooding Ceremony #2

Doctoral candidates in attendance at the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony

Each doctoral candidate will be individually recognized for their accomplishments and draped with a hood by their respective program director. The ceremony also includes a faculty and student speech, and concludes with a reception and social in the University Fens Cafe.

Doctoral candidates who complete their degree requirements between August 2024 and May 2025 are invited to participate in the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony.

Please note that there are two hooding ceremonies on Thursday, May 15. The following programs will be recognized at the 4:00 pm ceremony:

  • Doctor of Social Work - Completed October 2024 - May 2025
  • PhD in Social Work - Completed August 2024 - May 2025

Graduates may bring up to 2 guests to the hooding ceremony and reception.

Any program not listed is being celebrated at the 1:00 pm ceremony.

Program Schedule

  • 3:30 pm: Graduates, faculty, and guests arrive; graduates line up for the procession (location TBA)
  • 4:00 pm: Ceremony begins in the Linda K. Paresky Conference Center
  • 5:00 pm: Reception in the Fens Cafe

Graduate Student Speaker

We are accepting submissions for the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony student speaker until March 17. A doctoral candidate from each ceremony will be selected to compose and deliver a 3-minute opening speech. Interested candidates must submit an RSVP by the early deadline of March 17 to be considered for the speaker position.
