Linda Friel teaches a course on integrating the Massachusetts State Curriculum Frameworks into the school library program. She is a retired supervisor of Media Services and was also an elementary and a high school librarian. Friel also taught an online graduate educational administration/technology course for the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, serves as an executive board member and treasurer of the Massachusetts School Library Association (MSLA) and is an American Library Association (ALA) Councilor-at-Large. Friel also served on numerous American Association of School Librarians (AASL) task forces and committees and is currently a member of AASL's 25 Best Websites for Teaching and Learning.
She has written about school librarians, school library programs and technology. Her professional interests include the integration of technology into the curriculum, school librarian-content teacher collaboration and how school librarians can provide learning opportunities to help improve student achievement. Friel earned a master's in library science from Simmons and an Ed.D. in Leadership in Schooling from UMass Lowell.
