Ann Baird Whiteside is Librarian/Assistant Dean for Information Services at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. The focus of her work is re-envisioning the 21st century library through her work, including expanding the creation of and access to digital information in close collaboration with scholars, and the use of technology to support teaching and research, and re-thinking the connections between space and information. Whiteside worked with the Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) on the development of one of its three digital humanities efforts—SAHARA—a collaboration between SAH, scholars, and librarians. She is active in many professional organizations and committees that shape approaches to the changing needs and opportunities faced by higher education and research libraries in an increasingly digital environment.
