Dr. Amitabh Dashottar joined the faculty at Simmons University in January 2013. Before Joining Simmons, Dr. Dashottar completed postdoctoral research at the Laboratory of Investigative Imaging and his doctoral research at the Human Performance Laboratory at the Ohio State University. The primary focus of his work is shoulder joint biomechanics. He serves as a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy. Dr. Dashottar is an avid runner and tries to run a half marathon a year.
Courses
- Research Methods and Evidence Based Practice courses.
Research/Creative Activities
Dr. Dashottar's research focuses on the shoulder joint biomechanics. He is interested in the biomechanical factors that lead to shoulder joint dysfunctions. In addition, he is interested in evaluating the validity of commonly used shoulder joint assessment procedures and, the mechanism of action of soft tissue treatment techniques used in Physical Therapy treatments.
