Suzyn Waldman

Sportscaster and Color Commentator for the New York Yankees

Suzyn Waldman ‘68, ‘21HD is a sportscaster who has served as a color commentator for the New York Yankees since 2005. As a lifelong baseball fan, she was initially drawn to Simmons for its close proximity to Fenway Park. At Simmons, Waldman majored in Economics. For many years, she worked in musical theater as a singer and actress. Following the footsteps of Gayle Gardner (the first female sports anchor on a major network), Waldman is celebrated for breaking into the male-dominated field of sports broadcasting.

Waldman received an Honorary Doctorate from Simmons in 2021 and was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2022. Commenting on her inclusion in the Radio Hall of Fame, the Yankees told ESPN that: “Suzyn has informed and entertained Yankees fans with precision and care for 36 years. . . . This accomplishment is the deserved result of decades of hard work and dedication to her craft, and we would be remiss to not laud her professionalism and resolve while staring down countless obstacles as a pioneering woman in her field."
