The Simmons University School of Social Work presents our 1st Annual Veterans Day Program, featuring a keynote address from 4-star General Gary M. Brito.
This will be a hybrid event, though in-person attendance is strongly encouraged, and will include the posting of the colors by our local ROTC cadets, a brief history of Veterans Day, POW table ceremony, remarks from both Dean Michael LaSala and Army Veteran and Associate Professor of Practice Sam Odom, of the Simmons University School of Social Work.
Keynote Speaker
Our Keynote Speaker will be 4-star general Gary M. Brito, the 18th Commanding General of the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command, a Hyannis native of Cabo Verdean heritage.
General Brito’s visit offers a unique opportunity for students, faculty, staff and the local veterans’ community to engage with a distinguished leader in military training and development. His keynote address will focus on leadership, service, and the challenges veterans face as they transition to civilian life. We anticipate that this event will greatly benefit our students, particularly those studying social work and public health, as well as veterans in our community who continue to contribute in significant ways.
