An experienced higher education leader, prolific scholar, and skilled teacher with more than a decade of administrative experience, Stephanie Cosner first joined Simmons in 2018 as the Inaugural Dean of the College of Social Sciences, Policy, and Practice.
As Provost, Stephanie will lead the vision and strategy for the full range of Simmons’ academic offerings, particularly as it relates to our diverse mix of campus-based and online undergraduate and graduate programs. This includes continued work to implement our updated academic vision, new academic programs, and the Simmons Edge. Stephanie is a passionate advocate for this institution and its vital educational mission.
Russ Pinizzotto, who will serve as Chief Operating Officer, first joined the Simmons community in May 2020. During the past three years, he has utilized his strategic thinking, leadership skills, and commitment to collaboration to advance strategic priorities – including Academic Redesign and the continued evolution of our online degree programs.
As Chief Operating Officer, Russ will oversee and coordinate many of the University’s critical daily operations, including in technology, finance, and facilities. In addition, he will continue to support our work to achieve long-term financial sustainability, defining Simmons’ points of differentiation, and promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. He will also help manage our strategic planning process as we implement and advance key initiatives. Russ has been a tremendous partner and colleague, and his commitment to this institution and open communication style will be major assets in this new role.
