Associate Professor’s Research Links Drinking and Depression

Associate Professor Christina Sellers is a lead author on a study focused on the connection between alcohol use during retirement and an increase in depression.

Sellers was quoted in a January 20 MarketWatch article, “Retirement and drinking don’t mix.” 

"Older adults’ mental health matters and right now we are in a unique position where more and more folks are retiring, the rates of both alcohol use and depression among older adults are increasing." 

Dr. Sellers has research and clinical expertise in substance use, including her work with at-risk youth and training in intervention research and implementation science.
