As reported in WBZ News Radio, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu visited Simmons University on International Women’s Day (March 8, 2025). Wu had just returned from the nation’s capital, where, before a House Oversight Committee, she provided testimony regarding sanctuary cities.

Welcoming the Mayor to Simmons, President Lynn Perry Wooten said, “I want to thank Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, fresh off a trip to DC, for her leadership and powerful advocacy on behalf of this great city.”

Addressing Wu, the Simmons community, and others in attendance, Wooten remarked, “In light of the current moment, I have been reflecting on the theme of this year’s breakfast: ‘Action in Unity,’ which recognizes women’s collective power and the importance of working together to create positive change. Leading with our values, advancing gender equity, and supporting the most vulnerable in our communities is our collective responsibility. I am grateful for this amazing group of leaders who have gathered here today to discuss these important issues and how we continue our important work to uplift women and girls across the Commonwealth.”
