Simmons SLIS Ranked as a Top 10 Library School

In the U.S.News & World Report’s “Best Library and Information Studies Programs” for 2025, Simmons’ School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) comes in as number nine (tied with Indiana University, Bloomington). This ranking encompasses the nation’s 56 master’s degree programs in library and information studies that (as of summer 2024) were accredited by the American Library Association (ALA).

Other exciting SLIS-related news includes new organizational appointments: Maria McCauley ’16PhD has been elected President of the ALA and Alexia Hudson-Ward ’25PhD has been named President of the Association for College and Research Libraries (ACRL). Additionally, Jerome Offord Jr., ’15PhD and doctoral student Ramin Naderi have been elected to the ALA Council.
