Simmons School of Library and Information Science alumni Megan Phifer-Davis ’18MS and Derek Mosley ’11MS have been selected by Library Journal for the 2024 Movers & Shakers. Library and Information Science professionals are chosen for the unique recognition based on their work in libraries, education, public service, and beyond. The categories of awardees include Advocates, Innovators, Community Builders, Educators, Change Agents, and Ban Battlers.

“Educator” Phifer-Davis, Reference Manager of the St. Louis County Library, Missouri, is recognized for her role in the library’s Reference by Mail program, offering resources and support to thousands of incarcerated individuals.

“Innovator” Mosley, Archives Division Manager of the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History, Georgia, was acknowledged for his ongoing work in “Archiving the Black Web,” and as cofounder of the Atlanta Black Archives Alliance, a group of area archivists who emphasize the importance of archiving Black history and culture.
