As the new administration continues to implement a range of executive orders and policy changes, we know that individuals may have questions about their potential impact on Simmons and our community. Simmons leadership, which has been working on these issues even prior to the presidential transition, is actively assessing each executive order and communicating with relevant offices and individuals.
Simmons deeply values each member of our community. Our top priority is providing a safe and welcoming living, learning, and working environment where everyone can thrive.
We have established a new task force comprised of leaders from across Simmons who are charged with reviewing, analyzing, and providing guidance around the executive orders and their impact on Simmons. As part of this work, we are also finalizing a new Simmons webpage that will provide information and resources relating to the executive orders, Simmons policies, and other helpful information. In addition, please stay tuned for more information about a series of webinars featuring University leaders, which will provide a deeper dive into some of these key issues – including immigration enforcement, DEI, and gender-related topics.
While periods of change and transition can create uncertainty, they also provide opportunities to reflect upon and recommit to the values most important to us. Simmons’ mission – utilizing education to advance social and economic equity – is both our foundation and our guiding path forward. As a community committed to learning, scholarship, and service, Simmons is full of everyday leaders who thrive in their various pursuits and whose work makes our world better.
I remain grateful that we are a community that not only embraces a diverse range of experiences, but that also understands how our strength resides in our unique perspectives, passions, and skill sets.
