Emily Perry

Assistant Professor of Practice/Mentoring and Supervision Faculty

Emily Perry graduated from the University of Mary Washington in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. During her education there, she completed an internship in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and fell in love with working with children with special needs. After graduating, she relocated to the Boston area, and began working at Perkins School for the Blind, in the Deafblind Program. She completed her master's degree at Simmons in Behavior Analysis during her time at Perkins.

Once Professor Perry obtained her master's degree, her career moved toward providing ABA therapy to individuals diagnosed with autism, which she did for the next 10 years, while also working at Simmons as an Individual and Group Mentor in the Behavior Analysis department supervising our future behavior analysts. In September 2021, she became a part-time faculty member for Mentoring and Supervision to support both the on-campus and online Behavior Analysis programs, and in May 2022, she started working full-time at Simmons, continuing her unique role within the department as Mentoring and Supervision faculty.

Currently, Professor Perry is also working on her PhD in Applied Behavior Analysis through Simmons in addition to her faculty role. Her research interests include translating research to practice, particularly in functional analysis, improving diversity within functional behavior assessment tools and procedures, and creating strong mentors/supervisors in behavior analysis. In what free time she has available, she enjoys doing all sorts of fiber arts, from knitting to spinning and everything in between, as well as hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
