Laura Stevens has a wide range of social work practice experience in providing individual therapy, case management, and group psychotherapy. Stevens has worked in a variety of health care settings including the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Fenway Community Health Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as private practice.
Stevens received advanced post-graduate training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through the VA. They specializes in serving the LGBTQIA+ community and applying culturally sensitive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through a lens of cultural humility. In addition to their clinical roles, Laura has served as an adjunct professor at Simmons University since 2018 where they teach Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Stevens has served on research teams at Fenway Health, Veterans Administration, and Simmons University. They currently serve as the Research Manager for the Institute of Trauma Informed Treatment in Schools program through the Center for Innovation in Behavioral Health Education Research at Simmons University.
Stevens' scholarly interests include improving the mental health of marginalized communities, the application of culturally sensitive evidence-based treatment, the integration of mind-body interventions into clinical social work practice. Stevens is a certified yoga and meditation instructor, and they are interested in mind-body approaches to mental health for marginalized populations.
