Dr. Mindell Nitkin is an Associate Professor Emerita of Accounting at the Simmons School of Business. She earned her DBA in accounting and finance from Boston University. Her teaching interests span the financial aspects of business and include financial and managerial accounting, and finance analysis. She spent a recent sabbatical writing a textbook on financial aspects of business, which introduces the fundamental tools and concepts of financial accounting, managerial accounting, and finance. Her perspective on teaching and learning rests on the premise that students learn by doing. She embeds this perspective in all of her classes.
In her spare time, Dr. Nitkin enjoys bicycling, hiking, and knitting, depending on the season.

Research/Creative Activities
Dr. Nitkin's research focuses on earnings quality and the impact of governance structures on the quality of reported earnings. She also researches and implements pedagogical approaches to learning which are student centered and include experiential and self paced learning.
